Welcome
to the website of Kaliningrad Media Centre.
Kaliningrad
Media Centre is a non-governmental non-profit organisation set up
by Kaliningrad journalists in November 2002. The centre is conceived
as a meeting place for discussions and development of new ideas
and, above all, as a training centre for mass-media professionals
working in the region. Besides, Kaliningrad Media Centre is supposed
to promote non-governmental initiatives and to become a hub for
cross-border co-operation between Kaliningrad, Polish and Lithuanian
media.
OUR
MISSION
Strategic
objective of the project is to promote civil society and democratic
development by strengthening and developing mass media. As a matter
of fact only professional, financially steady and aware of its own
rights media is capable of its basic functions such as to disseminate
information, to control power for the sake of society and to raise
debates on vital issues.
ACTIVITIES
KMC
has already carried out a number of trainings and workshops lead
by foreign and Russian instructors for journalists, managers and
technical staff of electronic and print media. In future we are
planning to offer courses for TV and radio news presenters, to introduce
regional journalists to such genres as investigative journalism,
themed reporting, TV feature-story as well as to regularly invite
experts in the field of rights and responsibilities of journalists.
FUNDING
KMCis
established with financial support from the Royal Danish Ministry
of Foreign Affairs. It was initiated by Baltic
Media Centre, that like KMC provides training for media professionals
and produces joint projects for TV and radio companies of the Baltic
Sea countries.
Later on the Centre will be raising funds independently.
FUTURE
Please, let us know what you expect from KMC and we will respond
to this. Not only workshops and trainings, but also press-conferences
on hot issues, round tables, informal meetings, professional contests
and charitable actions - all this has been on KMC agenda.
Looking forward to close co-operation,
KMC director
